LONG TERM CORROSION PROTECTION WITH WHIRL SINTERING

Our cooling towers are manufactured based on state of the art design & technologies. Our core competence is the so-called Whirl Sintering, a process we developed and refined over the last 40 years. WHIRL SINTERING a 0.3 mm thick thermoplastic performance polymer alloy is melted onto clean, degreased and pretreated (sandblasted), Sendzimier Galvanized steel-sheet or profile in a powder whirl bed.
Sendzimir process (Tadeusz Sendzimir) is used to galvanize a steel strip by using a small amount of aluminum in the zinc bath and producing a coating with essentially no iron-zinc alloy. The process guarantees high resistance and durability characteristics.
The shiny, nonporous surface is highly impact resistant yet elastic; it is resistant to mild acids & bases, has a good UV and all weather resistance. The Whirl Sintered Surface Coating does not only prevent corrosion it also prevents deposit formation and macrofouling.
All of our galvanized sheet metal parts for cooling towers are Whirl Sintered to prevent corrosion.
Whirl Sintering has a couple of additional advantages:
  • reduction in risk of injury(no sharp, rusty edges)
  • improved sound insulation and reduced vibration
Whirl Sintered Cooling Towers are very corrosion resistant and durable. They have the highest corrosion class - C5-M very strong (sea). Regardless of where they are installed and used GOHL-HEGER will give you a product with a  >15 Years life expectancy "by design".

Plume Suppression Coils for cooling towers where first tested in 1976...
The initial objective was to decrease the visible plume at the top of cooling towers.
Over the last 40 years we developed and patented unique Plume Suppression Coil Systems, based on water regulation i.e. low water consumption over the exchange surfaces, both for open and closed cooling towers.
Numerous choices of materials are available depending on water quality and application.

The Conductivity-Controlled Bleed-Off Device is a control device for the automatic control of the max. salt-concentration in the circulating water of the cooling tower.

The main components are:

  • conductivity measuring cell
  • electronic controller
  • bleed-off ball valve

The bleed-off water automatic controls the maximum salt concentration in the water circuit of the cooling tower. During plant operations, water is continuously evaporating.
With the water evaporating, components in the water (salts) are concentrated. The salt concentration in the remaining circulating water is increasing. To Maintain original water specifications, part of the circulating water has to be replaced by fresh water.
When the salt concentration exceeds a certain limit the Conductivity-Controlled Bleed-Off Device activates and regulates, by measuring conductivity, the watare quality in the tower.

The conductivity is determined by a measuring cell and serves as an input signal for the regulator. It is also shown on the the display of the regulator. When the value exceeds a predetermined point, the regulator opens the ball valve and part of the circulating water goes to drain.
The discharged water volume is replaced by fresh water (float valve or limit switch with solenoid valve). The ball valve closes if the salt concentration is under a preset value.
